Cynefin

Cynefin is a dance for film piece supported by the Arts Council of Wales. A collaboration between dancers Ceri Rimmer and Angharad Harrop and Composer James Kelly. This playful film takes a look at the welsh landscape through the eyes of two dancers who grew up in North Wales. Both moved away to bright city lights, but the call of the sunrise over the mountains, the whispers of the winds through the valleys and singing of the rivers journey keeps bringing them home. In Welsh we have a word for this phenomenon, Cynefin. Cynefin is an exploration of what it is to live in a landscape and how we play our part in shaping it, perhaps through walking the well trodden paths of miners and shepherds or perhaps how we choose to view it and show it to others.

Forgotten Space

The act of walking takes us from where we are, to where we want to go, but on the way do we get lost in thoughts of arrival, neglecting the present and forgetting what it is like to experience the journey?

Forgotten Space explores what could happen when strangers meet and enter into an unspoken dialogue. How do they negotiate the space between them: the awkward tension and the intrusion of personal boundaries?
