Roedd o'n ymarferon cyntaf ar y brosiect i ni yma yng Nghymru. Roedd y neuadd yn mor oer oedd ein traed a dwylo yn ddideimlad ac oedd o'n bosib i weld ein anadl! Ond mae'n mis Ionawr a mae hi'n Gymru felly heb cwyno dechreuodd yr ymarfer!
Rydyn ni wedi chwarae o gwmpas efo camau o glocsio ac efo'r syniadau o sut chi'n meddwl am rhythym pan chi'n dawnsio.

This weekend was our first rehearsals for the project here in Wales. The hall was so cold our hands and feet were numb and we could see our breath! But it is Wales in January so we started!
We have been playing with clogging steps and ideas of how we think about rhythm when we're dancing. We were talking about how when we are clogging the steps create part of the  tune, they have a symbiotic relationship.
We also played with ideas of what we could do with the harp and dance, keeping the idea of the rhythm of the dance and the rhythm of the music.
It's been great to start the project and start in the space with ideas we've thought about for a while.

Pan oeddwn i'n wneud dipyn bach o ymchwil heddiw ffeindiais i y fideo hon o fy nhad yn ddawnsio efo Ddawnswyr y Fedwen Fai ar S4C yng Nghaernarfon, dwi'n meddwl 1991.
When I was doing some research today I found this video of my dad dancing with Dawnswyr y Fedwen Fai on S4C in Caernarfon, I think 1991.
Quando eu estava fazendo alguma pesquisa hoje, eu encontrei este video antigo do pai dancando com Dawnswyr y Fedwen Fai em Caernarfon, eu acho 1991.

First Post on a new project!

With support and funding from the Arts Council of Wales, De Montfort University and Senzala UK, I will be collaborating on a project that will look at heritage and culture from two very different nations, Wales and Brazil. The project explores communication and how we can share our culture with others. How do we identify where we belong through our culture and and how can we use this to show others who we are and where we come from?

I'm very excited to work with some amazing collaborators from right across the globe and also just up my road!!

This project is the beginnings of the realisation of research and ideas between myself and Ruan de Vargas a musician from Rio de Janeiro. We began collaborating together in 2011 via video-link, exploring communication via the internet through a project titled Perguntas & Atebion (Questions and Answers). In July and August 2011 I travelled to Rio and spent a period of time working together with Ruan and also Pedro Reis developing ideas we had begun to explore via the video link (See Blog for Brazil for excerpts of our process). In February 2012 Ruan, Pedro and Feinho will travel to Wales to collaborate with myself, harpist and dancer Ceri Rimmer, Capoeirista and dancer Will Thorburn and Welsh Folkband Brigyn. During this time we will share experiences and ideas to form the beginnings of a project that will be realised towards the end of the year. We will present our work in progress at De Montfort University's Cultural Exchanges Festival
